Between High header and Drop header, High header seems providing more stability, why is it not commonly used? What is the disadvantage of it. Thank you.
Very valuable information for a beginner woodworker here. Thank you much for sharing your knowledge with us. God bless.
I have PEX-A. Can I crimp it or do I need an expansion tool?
Very 😮 well explain 🎉 l need to learn this.
Because we use only metric rulers i never saw a ruler like this one. But the system is me wel known. On most topographic maps the scale-ruler is printed like this, and thats very practical for measurement, but not so much people now how to use it. On other items than topo-maps i never found such kind of ruler or scale.
Great teaching 👍
Very informative, well explained
💯👍
Thank you so much for the video tutorials, I spent a lot of time researching online & this is where I learn that drywall clips were used in houses (instead of studs behind wall corners for cost savings). That's exactly the case to my friend's house. The issue we're having is the drywall cracked from inside corner. Came to find out there were no stud behind the drywall that came detached. From the split reveal part of interior, I do see clip where the drywall corner meets. It appears one side of the drywall was fasten into stud & the split side was fasten into the drywall clips. Any suggestions/tricks besides tearing out & replacing old drywall & adding stud behind to secure it? Even that may present challenges too, behind these drywalls are brick walls so hopefully there's enough space allow to drive screws to add new studs behind. Hope to hear from you soon. Thnx so much for the input!...
Not knowing the details, maybe you can cut a small area and slip in a nailer. But the best way is to get some framing in there, cut back the drywall back to the next stud and make a patch.
How is the two by six nailed down when it’s being used for the butt wall?
It is nailed into the through wall. The bottom plate is nailed down, and the top plates overlap the corners
Finally I find a teacher.
Glad you found us
You should do a video on insulations
It is in the development list.
great video. What about when the floor is not level?
If its too bad - fix it first.
@@ConstructionEd not that bad, 1/2 inch difference.
Thank you
You're welcome
What’s the difference between henco and pex pipe ?
I am not familiar with henco, sorry
I’m going to school for basic in a few months (I’m a carpenter). There’s so much math I need to learn. Hopefully this UA-cam channel covers a lot of what I’ll need. This video is extremely clear
I am glad that it has helped.
I’ve gained so much clarity from these videos. The mock-ups and illustrations work wonders for people who are visual learners like myself. Thanks so much for taking the time to put these together!
You're very welcome!
I just rebuilt both the garage overhead door wall and 30' of wall in the master bedroom and half bath. The butt walls on both sides have Masonite lap board under the siding rather than sheathing and needs to be replaced.👍
I that old buffalo board
Awesome teaching materials!
Glad you think so!
Great job with the videos! Very interesting and informative…
Thank you very much!
Very interesting video.
Glad you think so!
What if the two corner walls have different heights
Not sure what your question is. The same connection process can be used - but obviously no cap plates will tie the walls together.
Do they make a fitting that allows you to sweat on to a 1/2 copper line but connect to a 3/4 pex line?
they sure so. Right on the shelf. It is a reducer coupler
Good training, well laid out, very concise. Well done!
Thanks Old Ben
Your presentation is excellent it doesn't or couldn't get much better than this. I'm very impressed!
Much appreciated - share with your friends
AMAZING tutorial video! "Brilliant teaching" I agree.
Thanks for the compliments.
Hello, what are the commercial lengths of stud/lumber commonly used in US? thank you!
8 ft, 10ft, 12ft are the most common - but you can get longer
Agreed
Thank you so much for teaching us the most important basics building.. I watched your video on the nailer corner and replicated the technque.. It's has worked well. Iye completed my 2x4 frames which are all square, nailed in place and level. Re squaring my frames I've been using the corner to corner angle squaring which has worked well. It's a separate 2x4 window frame, I'm having a problem getting it square, Hence watching your video Like you've explained its a to & from thing until you get it right. I've decided I'll invest in a Frame square which I know will be very helpful. I have all the other necessary tools, just not the frame square Thank you so much for helping and teaching us the correct techniques in construction. Really appreciate watching your informative and clear teachings in construction..
I am glad it all worked out for you.
Thank you, great explanation great tutorial
Thanks for the comment
Very nice video ,thanks
You got it. Thanks for stopping by
I have never seen any advice/rule/guideline that specifies which end of a wall receives the short spacing when its length is not evenly divisible by 16 or 24 inches.
There is not defined rule - do what makes the most sense for your situation
Thanks for the lessons, I learnt a lot, Wish i could learn this practically at site.
You can do it!
Thanks a lot
Thanks for the comment
Just thank you!
And you are welcome
Thank you! Sometimes you stumble over great videos and teachers online, and I’m very happy to have stumbled over yours. Just the content I’m looking for! Love the scale models you have made to illustrate how everything goes together!
Gald you found us, I hope you like the other videos on our channel
Thanks really needed to know; excellent
Glad you like what you found. I hope you watch more of our videos.
What about shimming a header to eliminate gaps? Can a window slowly be destroyed if you have floating headers that slowly settle?
If the header is sagging and pushing on the window it can cause damage. But the best solution would be to rebuild the opening.
Thanks for the video. What are the dimensions of the wood you used to build the model wall?
You can find more about our scaled teaching lumber on our other channel for teachers - ua-cam.com/video/_A6u0oQ9Guw/v-deo.htmlsi=-jKXcU5k9SUO4qT6

@@ConstructionEd awesome. Thank you
Such a great educational resource! Thank you. I may have missed this (watched twice) - I thought the header above the opening is directly at the top of the window space, so a cripple stud(s) would get marked at the top plate. But in your plans, the header is all the way up to the plate, with a block at the window, and cripple studs in between. Just a different way to do it? Or is there a reason to do it this way here as opposed to the way it was shown in the framing basics video?
We were intentionally showing both ways. In the header video we show both the high header and drop header.
wow, the way he explains is perfect!
I am glad you enjoyed it
Thank you. I'm going to work like a bull released from a cage. awesome 👌 bless your heart
Best of luck!
I got into trouble with some pressure treated 2x4's: a couple of them had a 90+* twist over 12'. The Speed Square was immensely helpful getting a straight enough cut, along with some clamps to work with the rest of the construction
PT can twist like crazy, especially here in Colorado where I am
Nothing but excellent I am glad that I found you guys, all of this information it is what I needed to know. Thanks
glad it helped
would you use 1/2" OSB for roof decking? The framing is 24"OC.
Building Code specifies what is required.
Absolutely! All of it, and the more, the better, As a former framer from back in the 70's, I see today's framers NOT providing any blocking for window curtain rods. Sure, they put in headers, but they sit back from the back of the drywall, so you have to use useless drywall anchors to mount the hardware, and 9 times out of 10, they end up pulling out and now you have drywall to fix!
Blocking does have its place
Excellent teaching; I am really learning, thanks guys.
glad you found our channel
I knew you could use the corner of it to make sure something is square. I had no idea that the long side of it was 45°! this is bloody amazing!
Great - glad it was helpful
Thanks. You’re the dad I never had.
Ok son
